Pandemic release one new image of its Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. Visually it looks okay, except for the nasty image quality as usual. Let's hope the gameplay has been upgraded as well.
Update: 9 more images

Looks good enough for an open world title.
The AA is an issue, but I am sure not too many people will even notice it when the game is in motion. I notice that about a lot of PS3 games where I have seen AA issues in still frames. You'd be hard pressed to notice them while the game is in motion.
The first Mercs was quality, and I think Mercs 2 will be more quality . . . no matter which platform you pick it up for.

the only probalem i have with mercs 2, is that mercs 1 was incredibly shallow. it was essentially a missions worth of content stretched across a whole game. and it got boring. it was cool the first few times you blew up a building, but then thats all the game became. there was no depth to the characters, the story, the missions. it was all "go there, blow that up" with the odd "capture this guy" thrown in between things blowing up.
im hoping this sequel rectifies a lot of those thing. give some variation and method to the mayhem. otherwise it's gonna be more of the same. 5 minutes of fun but with no incentive to play beyond that.

It was kinda impressive when it was shown for the first time... one of the first Ps3/X360 games with full-destruction & Open-gameplay.
Now... after crysis and some other games, it seems a little overshadowed by that... or it didn't evolve very well with time.
I like more of what was shown recently of Red Faction III. (also has destruction & open gameplay)

When the hell were they planning on releasing the damn game! This game should've released ages ago and still nothing. Seriously annoying!
Loved the first one and this one looks like even more fun. I'm just not sure if the gameworld is convincing enough. It all looks a bit, lifeless at times.

this sequel most have the bunker-buster if not fail already(that bomb was the first real bomb i a game ife ever seen)
but seriously the game looks real fun and i hope they dont delay it anymore(they have already a less impressive graphics because of the fact that the engine also had to support ps2+wii)

I have to agree with KORNdog, for a change. I wasn't impressed in the slightest with the original Mercs, I found it to be very bland and boring. The sequel does at least look like it has a far more interesting environment, but after GTA IV, and Saints Row 2 being released later this year, I think I'll be giving it a miss.
Hopefully they put a demo up though, I'll still give it a chance.

I on the other hand think it's one of the greatest sandbox games ever. Unlike GTA missions weren't linear and scripted to hell and there was so much freedom about how you reach your objective, so the game is not as repetetive.

The PS2 version is built on enhanced Merc1 engine. And they have a whole team working on PS2 version separately from the nexgen. I heard they were considering change of setting for the PS2 version.

When I saw the videos of this game last year it was plagued with nasty screen tearing which I'm hoping has been addressed. The game does look nice visually if you ignore the horrendous jagginess though. I'm still not convinced that this game will be anything special though; it looked very, very ordinary gameplay-wise when I saw it, like Just Cause and that was a load of old cobblers.

I'm really glad I don't give a shit about graphics if the game is actaully FUN unlike some people here. Brb playing some rainbox six rogue spear, why don't you go have "fun" with the incredible graphics of Crysis?
