Codemasters today released a demo for GRID on the Marketplace while PSN and PC demos are planned to go up later this week. Here are some images and a video from the quite impressive demo. As you will see in the video, the AI is pretty rough and won't hesitate to use heavy force to go past you. As you play the demo, you'll see that the game is more Arcade than sim - meaning that some people won't like the way the game use drifting, but personally I like what I've seen so far.

Update 3: Let's be done with the best looking track of the three: San Francisco. I'm sure the fans of MSR and the first PGR will be delighted to see that track!

Im not that impressed, the controls of EU and Japan races are crap and im also not that impressed with the graphics, they could look way better if there wouldn't be so much effects which make the game look washedout, blury, overbloomed and brown
This game is not even a bit sim, it's very arcade with crap controls except the USA race.
The controls in EU and Japan are so strange, very sensitive, there is no feeling and when driving in cockpit view or any other view from inside it feels and looks like you are floating over the track, very strange like you are aquaplaning in every corner, bah.
The damage isn't that great aswell, you can crash like mad before you can feel any difference on the handling and sometimes your car is immmediately destroyed.
The only thing i like about the demo is the USA race, it feels like a complete different game.
I was playing the USA race online a bit and i have to say i like the USA race because the handling of the car is pretty good and way more realistic then the EU race, Japan is total crap.
I almost pissed into my pants in my last race it was so funny, we had a massive crash really massive, all 12 carsh crashed in the 2nd cornes, yes the complete grid, it was so funny and the framerate droped at about 3-5fps

Great looking smoke on that one picture. Too bad that PC demo got delayed, but game looks fun so definitely going to check it out later.

Those screenshots look nowhere near as good as the ones we were originally seeing, unless they were taken from the PC version and when the demo for that comes out we can see how the game is supposed to look. Not at all impressed with the 360 version though.

This game seems to have nice (4X?)AA. Video seems to show that the game runs smoothly too. Hmm I have heard some positive things about this demo. I might check 360 demo tomorrow.

meh, the drifting is joke.
Races are fun but it is way too similar to DIRT, which is kinda good because i loved that game but its like playing it all over again which is a bad thing :|
I may buy it if i am bored of the games i have by the time this comes out.

Wow... I'm impressed. Handling feels a little wierd but I think that might be partially because I've been playing GTA nonstop for the last week or so. Graphics are lovely and the frame rate is rock solid. Flashback is a superb little feature. Plus, I don't know if it's the camera, sound, rumble or a combination of them all but the impacts are the most believable I've ever seen in a racing game.
Being able to select your name and have your race engineer use it (audio) was a nice touch and I was able to pick Wales for my country which is a rare win!
I think this one is going on order.

Omg...... I know that i "should" hate this game, its so arcadey, NFS style..
But it does it SOO much better than NFS... I had tons of fun with this demo :O
I kept sitting there, "its soo arcade, its almost on rails except for the drifting, i should hate this! i love Forza 2 ffs!". But i just couldnt give a shit, i just love it.
I love this game ^_^ And i hate myself for it :D
Btw if you think the drifting is wierd, turn on traction control, it makes all the difference, best drifting ive ever seen in a game.

It sounds like they haven't even tried to fix the retarded control system that came with DIRT.. I'll wait for the PC demo to come out and if its more of the same then I wont be buying.
Good on them for releasing a demo though as it at least gives us a chance to decide.

very nice looking game, was also impressed how silky smooth it ran on the 360..the engines definatly had work done to it since dirt.
The american muscle cars track, and online, was definatly a highlight of the demo... the power sliding one i could do with out, and the other was a bit meh.
The cars feel like they have alot more weight to them than dirt, and the sounds great...
The only thing i'm concerned about is the lack of mic support in multiplayer? Hopefully this was either due to nobody having mics in the online games i was playing.. or its cause the demo's still an early build. If not, then i find it very strange why codemasters cant seem to get multiplayer down right with their games.

I found once you stop all that stupid 'Japanese Skidding' you can really do a good lap time round the drift track... Or am I missing the point? ;)

Ontopic: Game looks good, but in terms of gameplay...not so much. I'd still prefer PGR3 over this from what I can tell so far. Sense of speed is great though!

I like that they put online MP in this demo.. Just for that I'm thinking of buying this game..
I like the gameplay itself (although being very arcady) aswell.. Looks like a fun racegame to play online with friends.. More action and speed then say PGR4, and not to difficult for more casual gamers like Forza2..

I wanted to add, the only thing I don't like is the drifting.. Mainly because it's totally not my thing and I bassicly suck at it.. I prefer 'normal' racing..
