They are really milking it, aren't they?

I really don't find it's detrimental to the series though to "milk it" in this case. I'm willing to bet that people are happy with more songs and don't necessarily need much in the way of updated anything. I personally couldn't care less if the graphics are updated at all. I certainly don't want any changes made to the gameplay.
And hell, you aren't even REMOTELY forced to buy this. It's not like a rushed-out sequel to an RPG that you just have to play because you have to keep up with the story. If you don't want to pay for it, then don't.
As long as the quality isn't affected, there's no difference in my mind between releasing 1 game every 2 years or 2 games every 1 year...or more even.

I would comment on the fact that Aerosmith sucks--but they're pop music, and they have a huge fan base--popularity and quality don't always go hand in hand and from the standpoint of a business decision this was probably a wise one.. but it's still lame.

I wouldn't say they suck though. They certainly aren't my cup o' tea, but they are capable of writing some decent tunes.

So this is how they are going to milk the series to death, by putting music from one band on a disc and calling it a game.
Nice way to scam people, not particularly good game design, but then again what would could you expect from a gimmicky one trick pony like guitar hero.

But I guess this explains your views right here: "a gimmicky one trick pony like guitar hero." Uhh...no shit..? What else do you expect it to do? What it does, it does well. I don't plan on faulting the upcoming SoulCalibur for being a one-trick pony simply because it's just a fighting game.

I agree. While I do think they're just milking it, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. You don't HAVE to buy it. Aerosmith/GH fans will love it. So what's the big deal?
Also, want to talk about milking it? How about "Final" Fantasy XIII? or Grand Theft Auto 4 (which is actually the 7th GTA or so)? Now THAT is what I call milking a franchise. And again, nothing wrong.

But your point is only somewhat valid since the games you mentioned are actual sequels, sequels with actual new content and improvements, while guitar hero remains the same with only minimal changes.

And yes, SoulCalibur is relevant. You called Guitar Hero a "one trick pony" in what I can only assume was a derogatory way. I mentioned SoulCalibur because it too only has one element: fighting. I guess I could have mentioned Grand Turismo as well. Keep in mind, I'm not giving these as examples of sequels with new content, but rather, I'm bringing them up as "one trick ponies."
Once again, how is this a scam in ANY god damn way? Can you answer that, or you were blowing things out of proportion?

The shit neversoft is trying to pull here is greed on a level that even EA games couldn't dream up.
To say that the games are still the same just because soulcalibur still features fighting and grand turismo still features driving, is a pretty silly and irrational thing to say.

GH: Aerosmith will have all new songs. Here's a thought, do you know how many songs there will be? Multiply that by the price per song you'd have to pay if they were DLC. If that price is more than what the retail price of GH:A will be, the consumers are the one winning here.
GTAIV is GTA3 with prettier graphics. Same gameplay. Final Fantasy games are all the same. Pretty boy/girl saves world. Sequels perhaps, but doesn't mean they're not milking the franchise. It's much easier to sell a GTA or FF game than having to create a new IP and try to sell that.

You've played GTAIV enough to make an analysis that it's the SAME gameplay? Sorry, but everyone who's actually played it in the gaming world pretty much identifies that it doesn't play the same. And you're horrible analysis of Final Fantasy being the same doesn't even need to be touched.

So by your definition every sequel to every game is just the same game over and over.
Good for you.....

In a sense he's right. This game is the same game with new songs (content), that makes the game different than it's predecessor
Sequels to games always have the same gameplay but with some additions or new content.

I don't see this as a buy for anyone but Areosmith fans. Even the other song content isn't that appealing (to me anyway, as I don't know any of the other songs)
Rockband does this thing a whole lot better, with the Band packs. I didn't by the Grateful Dead 8 song pack because I don't like them. But my brother did.
For as many people that are questioning this add-on there are probably the same amount of people that are counting the days till its release. For me, I don't see the reason for it. It's nothing that couldn't have been released on line as a track pack, for cheaper.
