DICE puts an end to the media blackout that wrapped its action-parkour FPS Mirror's Edge, and releases eight superb 720p screenshots. Next time, a gameplay video ?

i hope these are not bullshots, the lighting looks amazing and the concept sounds very interesting. i can imagine it being a similar experience like playing super mario bros. for the first time on the NES when i was a child :)

looks great. Too bad they are bullshots though :(

other than the insane AA, this is entirely possible. Ambient Occlusion is possible in real-time, the UE3 engine used for GoW2 supports it, as demoed at GDC. The buildings don't look greatly detailed, so I can't see anything hugely tasking here.

Kinda looks alot like Breakdown on the original Xbox gameplay vice..and I really liked how that game was made and if this is anything like that then it's a must buy :)

The character's attire is a bit strange for someone who would be fighting on rooftops
White cargo shorts w/ a black t-shirt and what looks like a pair of adidas on?
This is barely showing anything new from last time though

After her parents died by the hands of the goverment, she became a "runner", which job is to deliver messages/packages to evil factions I guess.
Her name is Faith by the way. I am glad she isn't some half naked chick like most games, or some guy who looks like belongs in a military guy.
Personally, I think Faith's look has alot of unique and normal character, something gamers can relate to, doesn't need armor or complicated clothing.
I for one like the whole thing about it, looks and sounds awesome, so hopefully we will get gameplay soon.
PS. It is said to be the screenshots are actual in-gane footage, meaning, the graphics look like that :D

They're not total bullshots - Perhaps a bit OTT on the AA would suggest this. But like someone said above, ambient occlusion is achievable and that's what makes the shots more definitive. UE3 has applied it to their engine, and I believe Project Offset also use ambient occlusion.
These graphics are certainly achievable on the 360 and PS3, and hopefully we'll be getting a gameplay video soon :)

If she's basically a delivery-girl, then her attire makes sense.

Bullshot is bullshot, and the evidence is in the pics.
We won't see any kind of awesome supersampling like that for a couple years, and then we'll already be hearing about the next 'Box'.
Anyone who thinks the game is going to look that smooth then happy for them, but I'm just not much of a believer anymore.
Fool me once...
Actually, things do look better in motion, so maybe for screenshots it's better to pump it up a bit just to retain the overall effect.

The textures are too crisp to be textures with global illummination baked in (a reflective colored surface inducing colorization on other surfaces receiving light that first bounced off it).
We may have kinda-like-that visuals but with worse texture resolution (iirc Mass Effect uses textures with GI baked in in places)

Looks pretty revolutionary, never seen FPP (first person platforming) quite like this! Parkour for the win. Faith looks pretty unique, too.
