Gameplay & trailer of Turning Point

Gameplay & trailer of Turning Point

Codemasters released a demo of Turning Point: Fall of Liberty on Xbox Marketplace yesterday, to be released on 28th of March on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Inside you'll find two gameplay videos from that demo, this time only in SD-resolution. But to cover up for that, we also have a HD trailer showing the demo, thanks to XCN.

The demo itself does have one strange thing: the sensitivity. You'll see in the videos that it's really hard to aim, and the game in it's current state only features three different sensitivity settings: Low, Medium & High. I use medium in the video, as the high one is impossible to use. And the medium one feels really slow, and different to use, so hopefully the devteam will put in some more options in that area.

the demo either had a lot of placeholder textures, or the demo had some serious issues with streming in the higher res textures, and so a lot of objects where just stuck in uber low res land, something that should only be there at a distance.

despite that however i liked it. they need to fine tune the framerate and get the control sensitivity fixed and it's something i'd pick up.

I'm willing to wait to see some reviews before I totally write this one off but the demo was pretty god-awful I thought. Hit detection seemed way off at times, the graphics looked pathetic for a 360 game and the controls were off. I suppose all that could have been fixed in the last four months so like I said, I'll wait for the reviews on this one. Too bad too, because I really liked the premise of the game. At least they are doing something somewhat original with the WW2 FPS genre.

If the demo build is 4 months old why bother releasing it instead of creating a newer build? The game looked pretty "meh" from day one, releasing an old build demo is just moronic.

There are some nice ideas but the game is waaaaaay too sluggish - as is the aiming. Lots of other issues that also need to be fixed.

They really need to make more options of sensitivity... High was too fast, and medium was too sluggish. My overall impressions with the demo were horrible... I think it would have been better if they never released the demo - in my opinion anyways.

I honestly don't think that four months could save this game.

Leave that kind of hope fore bigger name publishers and developers.

you realise developers have to create demo's, its not just a case of copy/pasting a chunk from their latest build. and considering the game has been demo'd a few times at various game conventions they probably used that...which will have been an old build. granted 4 months isnt much time to do much, but they could easily tweek the engine to a point where framerate and texture load in isses where fixed.

reviews will tell us whats what i guess.

As I work for a dev myself, yes I do know that demos have to be created, I also know that they themselves will know that no matter how much PR they pump out for the game it's still a "meh" game, and thus they should take the time to polish the demo.......

And, to remember that the game will be released in the end of March - the demo will be at least 6 months old at the release.

But the final build has to be finished about now if they plan on releasing it in the end of March. You can't ship the golden the night before it's supposed to be out in the stores.

I don't understand why some of you think the final product will be vastly different. Everything about this game is sloppy and amateurish. Not exactly a Grade A developer. I think we can expect the frame rate issues in the final product as well, unless they delay the game.
