Burnout Revenge: Lots and lots of images
2006-02-10 15:52:41 by Manager
Electronic Arts just released 66(!) images from the Xbox 360 version of Burnout Revenge. While the first 55 are from the game itself, the final 11 are from the "Free camera mode".
Update: Images taken down by EA's request.

Cool, i would much rather have this than Full Auto, the sense of speed in the game looks crazy.

go to the optician or stop playing games buddy...
there's no AA in the screens but we wont notice this with 60fps and the sheer speed of burnout anyway.

Is there HDR? Somehow lighting seems drab and the lack of AA is disturbing. On the plus side, the grainy motion blur effect is nice - better implemented than in PGR3 or Test Drive.

Jagieeeeeeessss!!!!!!!!
This game screams for 4x AA
Graphically it's a gen above old burnout.
4 wheels itselfs look to have more polys than a whole car in old BOR.
But horrible Aliasing make these screens really ugly!

What's the free camera mode like? Is it anywhere as sophisticated as the photo mode in PGR3? I'm assuming you can't even take screenshots, or can you?

Myro:
The cars looks like crap, the environments looks great and as it's Criterion, they'll probably going to put on some AA and then we all know it's going to look great overall in the end - happy?! ;)
As it's a port, it don't want to open my mouth before we see some videos (and not small-ass resolution videos) - just like with Far Cry: Predator.
I don't get it though. Far Cry Instincts is one of the most impressive games visually out on Xbox, and so is Burnout Revenge. There really shouldn't be anything to worry about.

They will of course put aa in the game.... The 360 can perform 4xaa at no performance loss they'd be stupid not to put it in. When is this game suppose to release?
People also need to keep something else in mind would these cars if they were as scratched up as they are in this game look as good in real life? We'd be looking at them like they are a disaster if you get lucky you might scratch your car in a way where it looks stylish but other than that expect it to look really ugly when it gets scratched.
This is one of those next gen games where you have to see it running on a 360 that is in the same room with you to truly appreciate it. When everything is frozen and we are seeing only pieces of what they have to show us it takes away from the experience.

some of these screens are absolutely awesome really, where today's Far Cry are obviously updated last gen graphics, these ones look really great imho.

I'm a Burnout whore from way back, so I'm very excited about this. But I'm most excited about the online tracking and gameplay. Only 23 days to go and it still hasn't gone gold yet... that's a good sign.
And for those who don't think this looks better than the Xbox version... you all need to see a side by side comparison. As soon as this game comes out, I hope we see a comparison of the two versions.

The German magazine X360 visited Criterion, and they wrote that they have already begun to copy the retail version.

BUT no PC on earth has embedded ram on the GPU side so why are the devs not just using normal AA with performance loss? I mean they have a great CPU and an ueber-GPU and are rendering only with 1280x720... It will take at least another half year till anyone is using an engine that enables tiling I think.
I bet with you whatever you want, there wont be AA in burnout revenge or only 2xAA that is not enough to get rid of the jaggies. But I'm "fine" with it... RidgeRacer6 looks great imo and has no AA... like I said 60fps and a lot of speed are hiding things like no AA with ease.

Okay now I don't usually like Burnout I think it becomes boring once you hit rank 5 or so. BUT the 360 version LOOKS NICE! and it runs at 60hz and they are doing 2xMSAA. So all the speculation can stop now.
But McErono is right MSAA is not free on 360 but the performance hit is not that high if your vertex load is low. Most 360 games nowadays have very low vertex load but very high pixel load.
Also, there are X360 games that are out already that are using tiling.
