PGR3: Yet another video
2005-10-23 21:39:34 by BlimBlim
Snoopers also had the chance to visit the Xbox 360 showroom on Friday, with my camcorder. He sent me back about one hour of footage, so we'll start with this PGR3 video showing a bit more of New York and the photo mode.

So I'm guessing that a chunk of that 1 hour of gameplay is PDZ stuff right? Please say yes.

Very cool stuff, I like that photo mode..
It's very cool to see the bridges so well rendered--and the skyline..looking at the financial district downtown is pretty brilliant..hell, even Canal St. gives me goosebumps--but there should be WAY more people on Canal, on an average day there's about 50x as many people on the streets in Chinatown--and that's not even durring a special event like this :) heh
It looks incredable, I sorta want to go take some comparison shots of this track vs. real life if I've the chance to do so.

Honestly Blim, I don't think that huge resolution is needed for your videos, they're still not direct feed, so why bother with such a huge res? Although, I have a high speed connection, I always download the "low res" vids, 640x??? is better, less space on my and your hardrive (server), basically the same quality, just smaller screen, much shorter download time.
Thanks for the video, but i'll wait for the low res version, which is by no means low res. For what is being shown, the low res is more than enough.

LEBATO:
Of course we always try to have both low-res and high-res. Low-res is up now. And I always download high-res, as I then can watch them full-screen.

Great Vid!! Got see alot of things that we've only just been able to read about, like photomode, car detailing in realtime, and you even showed off the crowd's reactions to crashes. Brilliant!!
Only other thing I would of liked to see was car damage in photomode.
And correct me if im wrong but this is the first vid to show the Austin Martin too, good exclusive. Now if you could get a vid of the Mercedes SLR :D

i have to agree about the damage...its not fully realistic, physics wise or anything, but still looks perdy

If the damage physics were really "realistic", most average gamers probably wouldn't make it through a whole race without wrecking their vehicle beyond repair and perhaps even dying, heh. There comes a point in fantasy where you've just got to suspend your disbelief in something, we've been playing racing games, even "sims" for years without proper vehicle damage--having the indication of damage without it crumpling the front end of your vehicle to all hell and back is a good thing.

Ok...seriously...What the F is up with the reflections?! THere are no realtime reflections in this game. ANd if you say that there are...look again. It's a static reflection. I just hope they turned it off for this show in order to get the framerate up.

THey do appear to be disabled in this build, for speed or stability perhaps. the earliest released cam footage showed them updating.

I believe they have them on depending on what they can handle in the build. Some vids have realtime reflections where you can see everything, and others have none. It's a freakin demo of a non-final game, what do you expect. Wait until Nov. 22nd if you want to see everything perfect. That is the reason why these people hate showing off vids when the game isn't done, because certain people can never understand that the game is NOT DONE. Which is why they show it to press, who are used to it and can make judgments based on what is there (most of the time).

I'm with PoweredByTHC. Why are their no real-time reflections? The car models look almost current gen without them.

Some people. I remember a time when it was common knowledge that when a game was not in finished form, all of the bells and whistles weren't likely to be shown. Oh wait, no I don't. Thing is, its a great looking game with wonderful cars and surroundings, and its a GAME. We could easily point out all the unrealistic things in any game, so don't let Sony's dellusions of grandeur influence what you think next gen should be. Especially in an unfinished product.
