X05: Test Drive Unlimited video

Even with all the bugs (the game is still months from the release) Test Drive Unlimited really impressed me at X05. Not that it looks really incredible, but this is finally a new type of racing game ! One could call it a MMO-racing game, where thousands all race on the same island of Oahu. Each player can create his own character, and then buy a car, a house and can get the latest trendy clothes at a shop. Money allows you to buy new cars, but you'll also need to get a bigger house to be able to park them all. The game itself allows you to defy anyone by simply flashing your headlights, and then creating the type of game you want. You can for example choose to go from one point of the island to another, and let the players create their own way to there, by using the roads or going straight through the fields if they want to. If done right this could be a lot of fun, and I'll try to follow this game's development as well as possible. Stay tuned !

It's a great set of ideas that could be cool if they work.
One thing they MUST sort out is the terrible in car view, after PGR3 it looks weak.

u shouldn't compare the graphics.....this is like a mmo thingi, much much bigger so the graphics have to be worse....PGR3 is a controlled environment

This looks great, graphics look great and the gameplay ideas they have sound interesting. I see nothing wrong with the incar view either, if they do eventually add the screen shake/movement like PGR3 I hope they have a way to disable it, i can see that getting annoying after awhile.

This looks really interesting.
This is what I miss in most car games, the liberty to just drive around, make money and buy new cars (and all that in a damn good-looking landscape). The only other game that has delivered something close to this would be the GTA series, IMO

It does look and sound amazing in graphics and concept, doesnt the in car view look like the drivers hands are tiny when compared to the huge steering wheel?

In this next gen I hope we get rain/snow effect, night and day effects, damage effects combined with online play. Oh by the way, does PGR3 has any weather such as rain and snow or night or day?

No weather effect? How next-gen is that? Hrmm...I wanna see how those wiper operates, kinda like the one you see in Rally Sports Challenge. Also the headlights, high beam low beam. I wanna be able to high beam someone when I'm drafting them at night, LOL.

PGR3 looks great, but I am honestly tired of that type of game. I rented Forza two weeks ago and was bored in two hours. This game is very exciting. I hope they have mountain racing.

The way the cars ride in this game... damn it's like you're sitting right in it. But the enviroments look kinda boring. The shop idea is nice, let's hope it's going to be busy on Live, and exciting times are coming
