I've received a lot of message asking me to put online the awesome ending video of Dead or Alive 4, so there it is. Needless to say that it's much better to discover it by yourself when playing the game, but I'll let you decide if you should watch it or not !

Another rushed 360 game...

This is just like PC's now, what happened to the days when games didn't need patches?

Lots of games throughout history needed patches, but there was no means to deliver them.

Tweaking a fighting game's balance through patches is THE BEST THING that could possibly happen to console fighting games. Remember the crapload of Street Fighter 2 versions back in the day? Remember how VF2 was 1.2 over here? Fighting games are constantly tweaked in the arcades, and the only way to bring that update to the console players in the past was completely new versions of the games themselves.

That's why nobody takes DOA seriously, especially 3, because it was a console only title that never had time to mature in the arcades. That's why it takes ages for Sega to make console versions of new VF games. VF4 PS2 was version D of that game and Evolution was version B of that arcade update.

It's not about milking the series, it's about meeting the hardcore demand, something most people here in the west can't even grasp. More relatable perhaps is the patching of online shooters to remove balance issues with the weapons and assorted exploitable glitches.

So bring on fighting game updates through patches! They'll be better for it!

Yeah a lot of these tweaks are based on Itagakis experiences playing it online against real users, which I think is an awesome way to keep a fighter balanced.

Games are so much more complex then they used to be. To do the kind of testing that would pic up all the bugs would add an extra year or more to development. Where as putting the software into full use will flush out most the bugs in just a couple months.

I much prefer getting the game a year earlier and then having any problems fixed within a couple of months.

Yeah, I really hope they fix that.. It annoys the hell out of me I cannot play this game online without lag even against my brother that lives 2 miles away when we're both have lighting fast and stable internetconnections.. It's only DOA4 that has this problem..

And that they fix the savegame bug is awesome aswell.. I luckily never got it, but I would be really pissed if I saw all my achievements/unlocks were suddenly gone..

I agree.. People tend to foget that games are become more & more complex.. Xbox 360 games have to deal with intergrated dashboard and online Live features now aswell.. Gameconsoles are indeed getting more & more the functionality that has been in PC games for years now, and unfortunatly needing patches is part of that.. But aslong as it fixes things, and they don't release the patches way to late I'm fine with it..

I'm ona School where they have Game & Animation, and man it's damn hard to make them, we only had to use simple design, I can't imagine how hard it must be to make a game for the next generation.
After I had to do it myself, I really got respect for the gamedevolopers

Dead or Alive 4 was anything but rushed... he is using xbox live as an advantage to continue improving his product as he sees fit.

One thing to note is in an interview with IGN i think Itagaki said that once the problems are ironed out the game will probably not see any downloadable content.

He wants to focus his attention to his next projects. The order of which are DOAX2, NG2 and Project progressive.

Seems its guna be a long wait for NG2 :(

Content and balance updates are different things though. "Content" to most people means superficial stuff like new costumes, arenas or even fighters, and that's something Itagaki leaves behind when he's done with the game.
