That's sort of my point earlier, that I think it's hard for games like this to stick. Just look in this thread, people are going apeshit over the fact that you can't crash.
I dunno if the climate is there, and the reason I can see for Sega Rally making it would be that there aren't a terrible lot of rally games these days, and it lends itself very well to the arcade approach.
If they were to make a Daytona USA, the same guys that are in here voicing their dismay would.. EXPLODE with negative energy, because that nascar style of racing is even more associated with cars breaking down and/or crashing.
I think their best bet is to make obvious sequels to this if it does well commercially (I hope so!) and then concentrate on the racing franchises of Sega's that are unmistakably arcadey.
I personally would like to see a Crazy Taxi 3 done right, because I pretty much.. ignore CT3. It would be cool to see a fresh take on it. They'll never make a game as good as CT1 by sticking to the same template, so just drop the punk music, drop the original game setup, and do it in a brand new way. Make online a big part of it and chuck in all the necessary keep-console-gamers-happy-with-value type stuff. I think I'd like it. MS dropped the ball on yet another cool franchise by not making more Midtown Madnesses, so Crazy Taxi could swoop in and occupy that territory.

I suppose they could do Sega GT 07 or something, but i doubt it wouldn't stand up against the likes of Forza and Gran Turismo, the one of the xbox didn't do so well from what i remember.
I think Sega GT should stay dead, while Super GT should get undead.

I'm not sure about Daytona, my favourite racer of all time.
Not sure what the game will look like when they have to have 40 cars on track?
It would have to be more realistic than Rally and people are complaining about the look of that with just 6 cars on track :/

Sega Rally has fully deformable terrain, Daytona wouldn't have. You'd get your cars, but people would still be yelling their heads off about the arcade approach to it.

The deformation is actually really good also, from time to time i catch myself looking at the deformation and end up in a tree.. :|

Daytona is sorta the ultimate arcade racer to me. I've never had more fun playing a racing game in an arcade than I have with those giant linked Daytona cabinets. I would honestly hope that people could appreciate the franchise history, a bit more so even than Sega Rally.. simply because Daytona was (I think) a more popular game in its time.
They should really just remake Daytona 2 and put it on XBLA. But I'd take a full fledged remake too.

Actually, I've been driving a bit with the race config now, and it seems you need to be more mindful about slowing down and drifting early in corners, but it has faster acceleration once you're on the straight so it evens out. There is a clear advantage when you're on roads with it too, obviously, but there seems to be pros and cons wherever you are.

Even if it did, having 40 people racing would turn it into a zoo. They'd have to perform some kind of IQ test to let you play it online at all, or you'd have like 20 people driving backwards and blocking people all over the place.

I bought it yesterday, and MAN, it is so cool. Very good game.
So much fun driving through the mud, taking the curves at such a high speed.
The framerate is absolutely stabel, no slowdowns, no pop ups (just a few very small ones, unremarkable)
Very great fun. Top Game!!!!!
