2008-09-05 09:38:57 It was dcefeinitely a good game with an awesome story, but there's hardly any replay value anymore. I used to play gta games just to play, run around and wreaking havoc and listening to good music. Now i only play it for ten minutes to get al little closer to an achievement. For me it's no more fun. |

2008-09-05 16:13:12 GTA-IV was it's money worth.. I agree it has it flaws (although none really bothered me) and there's little replay-value (unless you like the online MP), but it still gave me more then 100 hours of good fun, I really enjoyed the SP story and co-op missions.. --- |

2008-09-09 12:12:34 So far, in terms of time I'm going to actually enjoy playing it, ME was a much better buy. --- |

I was once going to go to the top of this apartment block, then snipe down on some of the civilians to see if the police would be able to come up the stairs to get me. About 4 flights up, at walking pace, I just thought "fuck this" and went back down. That was before I discovered that that jumping up the stairs was 5 times faster. Which to me, just seems kinda stupid when they put so much effort into making it so that his feet touch every single damned step in the normal stair animation. Anyway, a lot of the time its not fun either. Just a chore. Like, in MP. I go in, I run around for a couple of minutes, picking up ammo, armour, getting a decent car or heli, going to where the enemy players are, then get instantly shot in the head. That was fun life. Or, I go into a GTA race, 16 players (not my choice, it just filled up automatically). The race starts, and every single person piles up at first corner. My vehicle gets flipped, it get out and get run over. A firefight breaks out, and 8 people quit nearly instantly. I run away from the fighting, can't find any vehicles. Run down a few streets, along the course, getting shot at and run over. Getting frustrated now, no vehicles in sight. Decide to get an RPG and camp near a corner to get some money anyway, (because odds are, you'll get no money at all. even if you're fourth, someone will quit and you'll end up with nothing towards that most wanted achievement) and voila! vehicle that wasn't there before is now there. Awesome.... Fine, I get it, start racing, don't see anyone else for the rest of race. Last place... fantastic fun. Perhaps, perhaps since I had never played a GTA game before, I had different expectations, higher expectations with all the praise lain on the series. Expectations of endless fun and self consistency. Unless you're screwing around with friend(s), its not fun, and even then, there are better games. The only reason I will ever come back to GTA is for the achievements. And when i have 100% for my two top played games (CoD4 and Halo 3), that isn't saying a whole lot about its lasting appeal, especially for a game that apparently has so much to do. I'm already bored of playing it, and I'm still 30% or so away from completing the campaign. (another side note: If going to every activity with 3 different friends isn't a chore, I don't know what is) Like I said, the cutscenes are great to watch, there are some fun moments, it is worth a play through but beyond that, when I can commit traffic violations left, right and centre in a game with "auto" in the name, wanton destruction of civilian property (cars mostly) while there are drivers and passengers in the car, probably causing severe injury, all right in front of the cops, and they don't care. But, punch someone (even a criminal I was trying to help catch for a random officer running around on the street), knock into their police car, OH GOD NO! get that person! It just doesn't seem right. One last thing, I only mention the seatbelts, because sometimes, I can go pretty fast into a building, no consequences. Other times, I'm already slowing down, going pretty slow, and just fly out of the vehicle. Especially not fun when you're getting chased by cops... Theres no in-game explanation as to why. --- |

If you want to talk about inconsistency, CoD4 seems like it's striving for realism, yet it features endless spawns and ai enemies that are essentially 'nade snipers. Doesn't make much sense to me. --- |

2008-09-15 00:41:45 I have issues with COD4s campaign as well. But hey, I don't play the campaign anymore, the MP is fun. --- |
