That's a bit of an exaggeration Op. It's not that bad.
Well, the level of disappointment goes with the level of anticipation, you can not tell you him how disappointed he should be is my guess.

You nailed it there Lebato. My level of anticipation for this game was crazy high and my opinion of all jrpgs I've anticipated this gen is that they ended up being better than my expectations. With IU, it was the complete opposite. I didn't find it nearly as good as I was hoping it would be.

I did say before that I fully expected Tales of Vesperia would end up spoiling a lot of jrpgs for me this gen and there is no denying that my strong negative opinion of IU has a great deal to do with how great I thought tales of vesperia was in comparison. Playing Tales of Vesperia will bolster IU's deficiencies.

Tales, I think, is a shining example of a jrpg done right. Alimo have you gotten Tales yet? That's the jrpg of this generation for me so far. If you haven't played it yet, you'll come to see what I mean.

This is just my opinion, but I think tov is the best jrpg i've ever played. I doubt even ff13 or star ocean will be able to top it.

Do yourself the favor of staying away, it really is a pretty bad game...unless you like extremely bland story, terrible voice acting, mediocre uneven gfx and getting lost a lot. The music i alright though and the CG is awesome...that intro scene with the eagle flying past the city...breath taking.

the game reminds me jade empire, but jade empire was much better, but imo IU' combat system better

Its not that bad, Optimus over exagerates on the good and bad sides of things.. ;)

As for tales I didn't think it was all that great, I have yet to finish it, when I lose interest in a game that is normally a sign that its not all that great.

On that note I did complete IU though :P

Damn then we are totally on the opposite spectrum for these two games.

I stopped playing IU right around the time of that terrible catapult minigame where you had to break down the door. Then the cutscene where balbagan proceeded to beat up the guards.

I couldn't take anymore after that. Tales, on the other hand, was awesome for me the whole way through. You should really press on in Tales Jolli, it gets so awesome. How far have you gotten thus far? The battle system continually opens up and showcases just how nicely put together it all is, the characters and dialogue are some of the best I've ever seen in a jrpg. The characters are wonderfully developed. Yuri is the best lead character I've seen in quite some time. The story consistently becomes more intriguing, the art direction and dungeon designs are fantastic. Synthesis is addicting, the skill system is great. There is just so much cool content in it.

Well I like pretty much everything about it. The execution felt flawless to me. You can tell the game didn't suffer as a result of a rush to get it out. With IU, the very things that made me so excited about the game in the first place, once I got to play the game, felt like a total non-contributing factor to the game in any positive way. You just feel the lack of effort with the game. Then I couldn't stand constantly seeing the same palette swap of an ogre enemy.
