2008-09-01 23:25:29 I was also living up to my name banning the people intentionally crashing ;) Most of us were new and not great drivers, and mistakes happen as well as some rough driving at times, intentionally cutting corners to t-bone someone is lame. So I got to Ban :P Next time I will have to ban the foul mouthed guys as well. I think in general when you seed a game with 2 or 3 solid citizens others follow. --- |

2008-09-02 16:14:14 I guess ban is the only way to get good races. I didn't see the ones that got kicked out but I guess they were quite horrible. I mean I didn't got banned yet and I was crashing too :P Oh well maybe next time ;) --- |

2008-09-02 18:02:26 One of the guys banned was clearly and intentionally taking people out. He would cut corners to t-bone other racers. I understand mistakes and aggressive driving, even trying to squeeze into a corner (or ride wide to make a wide passer stop/take a ride in the grass) and bump here or there and whatnot. But going out of your way to cause wrecks with the purpose to cause wrecks with no intent to race is lame. He was warned 5 or 6 times. --- |

2008-09-02 18:08:41 That's exactly what put me off the online part of Forza 2. Those people deserve to be banned! But when you can play with a couple of friends, it can be really fun. |

2008-09-02 18:40:42 The person who starts a lobby can ban people. So if you ever run into the problem start a lobby, pick some popular tracks and cars, populate with some AI but leave open slots, start off doing short tracks / few laps, and it should fill up quick. FM2 online could have been layed out better for online play IMO. One thing is making it easier to pick a specific car to race with (browsing through all 350+ cars on a 4th page menu is DUMB) as well as an extra "online" racing mode where cars were less affected by contact. Right now you can have damage off, on, or all collisions off. A 4th option would be, essentially, car on car contact would be very small. So if I rammed someone I would bounce off more than pushing them. So yeah, we could jab and jar a little bit, but intentionally trashing someone would be near impossible. There are other ways this could be handled as well. Probably the big one would be racers behind other cars who rear end others; I get a chuckle out of the guys who say, "You are riding your breaks!!" and then you see them wipe out around the corner because, lo and behold, they don't use their breaks! --- |

2008-09-02 20:00:07 I know you can ban people, but it won't do your reputation any good :P |

2008-09-02 20:14:39 It wouldn't take much for "car on car" contact to be treated as "first come first serve." Thus you race as normal but for contact if you rear end someone you don't do anything to them but you slow down. Not perfect, but better than ramming people off (or they could just reduce the effect now down to 10-25%). Racing "ghosts" may be ok ... but kind of boring in many ways. I think I will run with the weak sauce full damage next time + ban warning for abusers. --- |

I also agree they need to up the damage in FM a lot more.. It's still way to easy to drive rough and not really get damage that slows you down.. If there was a lot more realistic damage in the game people would drive more carefully, and the ones that don't can simply be kicked & banned from your game.. Problem solved.. --- |

2008-09-03 13:34:00 My thoughts exactly. Just don't inflame the hardcore MGS/T10 fans because, you know, it is the mos realistic sim ever in all areas ;) --- |

2008-09-03 15:55:10 Just played FM2 online with some total strangers (all a bit older by the sound of their voices).. It was a good fun experience.. We were pretty equal in skill and racing was close and fair.. No bumping and ramming etc, not even when overtaking, and if it happened it was by accident and people said 'sorry'.. This way FM2 is a lot of fun online.. --- |

2008-09-04 15:56:52 Not just safe but also fair.. For example when I see someone is gonna try and overtake me, and I know he's faster then me, then I'll let him go, I'm not gonna slam the door on him and cause a collision.. --- |

2008-09-04 19:23:19 I like a mix on cars between classes versus "one car to rule them all." When everyone has the same car there is no complaining/excuses and, importantly, it is a completely even race. I really prefer/favor racing where skill, strategy, patience, and so forth win out over "picking" the right car or cheap strategies. That doesn't mean I think all contact is a no-no (although it can be, like last weekend I did my best not to touch anyone) but straight up bashing and dirty driving is no fun. FM2 is very easy to cause spinouts and the exploiters know this. It is easier to spin someone out than it is to pass cleanly or minimally contest fairly for the inside of a turn. --- |
