Sites report borders and slowness despite setting the console to 60hz including IGN UK and CVG.

Also, Gamecube game won't run in progressive scan. Whether this means NTSC games using freeloader won't either is unclear, but I'm looking into it.

This is turning into a kick, punch, hado-ken combo in the nuts.

It struck me this morning that I won't be getting a Wii tomorrow. It sort of just dawned on me that I'm going to miss the launch of what I consider easily the most exciting thing to happen to gaming since the Nintendo DS, because I cocked up my economy leading up to this.

I'm so depressed. :(

It could've been worse, yeah. Trauma Center: Second Opinion could've been a europe launch title. Then I'd be finding new ways to combine table with head right about now.

But I really wouldn't mind some banana blitz and a Wii. :/

Of course, had I picked up a Wii I would've inevitably ended up with some shite game of a different genre aswell for good measure. I got Asphalt GT with my DS at launch. You can't even fathom how crap that game is.. And neither could reviewers apparently what with 7/10s and whatnot. Fucking lunacy I say.. The game didn't have slow and fast cars - IT SLOWED DOWN AND SPED UP THE GAME. Utter tripe!

Yes i am looking forward to both FF:CC games the first one on the GC was a bit of a mixed bag, but hopefully SE will put a bit more effort into these.

Those are quite nice graphics for a DS game also.

I should get me a DS as i want to play the newest FF.

I'm actually considering buying one, there's two games I'm interested in namely: Zelda and Red Steel.

I can't make up my mind though, it's pretty expensive and I'm not sure how it will look on my HDTV.
If I hook up my Xbox (not Xbox360) I just can't get a good picture out of it.
If I hook it up on a SDTV, it looks much better.

I've tried different settings, but just can't get it right.
Is this the same for the Wii, or is there something I'm overlooking here..?

Keep in mind that the Wii for the most part offers 480p which looks considerable sharper than what you're getting out of your PAL Xbox. The fact that you connect it through component cables (if you get some) also means the HDTV will be kinder in displaying everything, since for some reason the SCART connector on those seem rather unflattering sometimes.

Xbox games supported prog scan on NTSC machines, not on PAL ones. We were/are stuck with 480i here unless we mod it and slap some component cables in it.

The difference between normal SCART delivered 480i and a progressive image, in particular widescreen ones, is pretty dramatic actually.

For the record I had mine softmodded for a while and played some Freedom Fighters in 720p. Then I modded back to be able to safely play Unreal Championship 2 on Live again.

Yea..all of my Xbox 1's were modded NTSC machines, so that pretty much meant total support for progressive playback, even if the software didn't originally support 480p. It also meant having the best media player available. XBMC would STILL be the best if it could handle a few codecs better and had the horse power to really deliver HD content.

I used to use mod chips, back in the day, but got into the software hacks shortly afterwords because from the perspective of a hacker who is interested in software/os shit, it was more compelling. Hacking the Xbox was a hobby for me, homebrew was a bonus but the real fun for me was just in setting up my boxes.

Best homebrew community ever (on a console). Microsoft very easily could have ignored that scene all together, but instead they're trying to bring that in to the legitimate fold..I dig that.

I'll recieve my Wii in the next couple of days and I've started warming up in anticipation. About the points, can you buy some on the actual console or some web page, Live style, or do I absolutely need to get one of those cards with points off stores?
