2006-11-28 22:23:11 The DS is easily the best gaming platform I've put money into (and probably the cheapest also). Nothing beats the ease of DS download play and how much fun it can be. |

It's just a matter of image quality..but IQ is a big deal, and imo I'd even go so far as to say it's one of the only things keeping me away from the Wii at this point..though I'll probably cave in the long run. I think The Sims is a good fit for Wii, the interface could be really cool with a pointer. That really opens up the Wii to some interesting genres that consoles haven't really gotten a lot of love from. I'm getting a DS again before a Wii for sure though, I miss having a DS. I pawned my fat one a while ago and never got around to picking up a ds lite. DS is my favorite nintendo system since the NES. |

2006-11-29 12:03:22 Well yea i have put my 360 through my pc monitor also, and yea it looks clearer, but it doesn't make the graphics better. --- |

2006-12-03 14:20:30 Well, Vengeance and Double Agent for Wii are both officially rubbish. I hope this isn't a trend with all of the announced Wii versions from Ubi. Cocking up PoP Wii would be criminal. --- |

2006-12-03 14:26:20 So why are they rubbish ? --- |
| SimonM7 Since 1201 Days |
2006-12-03 14:48:19 Double Agent looks marginally better than the PS2 version, still lightyears inferior to the Xbox one, and while some of the new gameplay interactions are pretty nice, the overall experience is dragged down by its sub-par visuals and framerate issues. It's essentially the second worst version of the game. Vengeance controls feel incredibly tacked on, and to compensate for the fiddlyness the enemy AI is laughably downgraded to just barely spot you when you're pretty much right in front of them. Visually it has LOD effects that remind you of the Halo 2 texture popup problems. --- |

2006-12-03 14:55:12 See my fear for the Wii is that it won't be much better graphically than the GC. --- |
| SimonM7 Since 1201 Days |
2006-12-03 15:05:16 Yeah, you know, Splinter Cell could look a ton better on GC if it was actually given the kind of attention the Xbox one did. I mean it was clearly an Xbox game and even the PS2 version seems really sloppily thrown together. Instead of trying to get the Xbox game to work on PS2 they could've re-thought how the game looks, instead of forcing the same lighting model on it, etc. --- |

Sadly, I think a lot of publishers were caught short with regards to developing for the Wii but see it as a way to counter-balance expensive next-gen costs by porting any Xbox/PS2 title they can get away with on the cheap. I've been thinking long and hard about getting one but will pass this Xmas. It has a bit of a party system feel to me, Zelda asides there aren't any games I feel I'd sit down to bash through on my own. Once Mario Kart is there though I'm straight in :D |

2006-12-03 15:21:59 Well, the rational parts of my brain argue that none of the games I want are out, but then there's the bits that just want to wave a remote around and get stuff to happen on screen no matter how unappealing the result. --- |

2006-12-04 01:09:52 Just got a Wii.. Zelda is somewhat graphically underwhelming (atleast from what I thought it was going to look like) but the textures are still really nice and I'm sure when I have a chance to play it more I'll love it. Wii sports however is awesome fun right off the bat. |

2006-12-06 19:37:35 Apparently the Virtual Console will play shitty border-infested PAL versions in europe, to perfectly capture that nostalgic sense of being shafted. I'm so disappointed I can barely find words for it. --- |

2006-12-06 20:49:30 Well can you not set up a US/JP account and download games from either region? --- |
| SimonM7 Since 1201 Days |
2006-12-06 20:57:08 Yeah, man, I was so close to selling all my NTSC Cube games and re-purchasing PAL versions just to be able to play them on the Wii. Thank god I didn't! :) --- |
