The DS is easily the best gaming platform I've put money into (and probably the cheapest also). Nothing beats the ease of DS download play and how much fun it can be.

For me though whoever secures treasures BC will have my soul. Even though I have collected almost all. I'm scared to play some in case they break :/.

Well yea i have put my 360 through my pc monitor also, and yea it looks clearer, but it doesn't make the graphics better.

Doesn't increase polygon count or texture quality etc etc.

For me it's whether i want to play on the 50" SDTV or the 17" monitor... the 50" SDTV wins hands down. (that's not to say that a 50" 1080p set wouldn't be better still :P)

You could always get a scaler for the Wii if your worried about IQ on a fixed pixel display, they are quite cheep these days, so i here.

Well, Vengeance and Double Agent for Wii are both officially rubbish. I hope this isn't a trend with all of the announced Wii versions from Ubi. Cocking up PoP Wii would be criminal.

Double Agent looks marginally better than the PS2 version, still lightyears inferior to the Xbox one, and while some of the new gameplay interactions are pretty nice, the overall experience is dragged down by its sub-par visuals and framerate issues. It's essentially the second worst version of the game. Vengeance controls feel incredibly tacked on, and to compensate for the fiddlyness the enemy AI is laughably downgraded to just barely spot you when you're pretty much right in front of them. Visually it has LOD effects that remind you of the Halo 2 texture popup problems.

I suppose there was some expectations in there too that make matters worse. I'd have imagined they'd easily look better than their Xbox counterparts, but they were obviously really rushed. Shame. :(

See my fear for the Wii is that it won't be much better graphically than the GC.

People were throwing around twice as powerful and such, but i have yet see an example of what the Wii is truely capable of.

Zelda looks like a great game, but Nintendo missed the boat, by not showing the Wii off to it's best.

Personally i don't think Mario Galaxy looks much better than Sunshine, if im honest.

I know the Wii isn't about graphics, but it should still have a clear advantage over the GC.

I know a lot of developers started off making a lot of Wii titles on the GC as they were almost identical except for performance, i wonder if this has had an effect on holding launch titles back.

I suppose i will have to wait for RE to see what the Wii is truely capable of.

Yeah, you know, Splinter Cell could look a ton better on GC if it was actually given the kind of attention the Xbox one did. I mean it was clearly an Xbox game and even the PS2 version seems really sloppily thrown together. Instead of trying to get the Xbox game to work on PS2 they could've re-thought how the game looks, instead of forcing the same lighting model on it, etc.

Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime show just how incredible GC games can look, but it needs devs to believe their effort is worthwhile. With the GC that wasn't often the case, but I think the Wii will eventually bring out the best in many developers - and that goes for graphics aswell. It won't always be fancy, but then fancy doesn't always look best. At least not for me, who still regards JSR for Dreamcast one of the most awesome looking games there are.

Zelda is in an awkward position of pretty much being the most gamecuby version of the Wii games so far, but even by being a snazzed up Gamecube game it arguably looks best. It's ironic, but also telling of how little artistic effort has been a priority for Wii launch games.

I've not seen Red Steel running in front of me though, but Snoopers said in GD that it looked a little better than the average Xbox game (I think that's what he said), so that sounds promising.

Well, the rational parts of my brain argue that none of the games I want are out, but then there's the bits that just want to wave a remote around and get stuff to happen on screen no matter how unappealing the result.

I think the endgame for those parts of my brain is to see me skinned. They've won many a battle. :(

Just got a Wii.. Zelda is somewhat graphically underwhelming (atleast from what I thought it was going to look like) but the textures are still really nice and I'm sure when I have a chance to play it more I'll love it. Wii sports however is awesome fun right off the bat.

If you want a new way to game, it's only ~270 after tax.

Apparently the Virtual Console will play shitty border-infested PAL versions in europe, to perfectly capture that nostalgic sense of being shafted. I'm so disappointed I can barely find words for it.

It makes a lot of sense I suppose, what with the PAL versions sometimes being significantly different and all that, but it's still a shocking relevation to me now that it's established that we won't be getting NTSC retro stuff.

Hopefully they change this somehow though, because I'm frankly shocked and extremely disappointed.

Well can you not set up a US/JP account and download games from either region?

I don't see the point though, I can just as easily download them and play them on an Emulator, i've been doing it for years with old school games, i'm not about to stop just because of this. *coughs*

However I know Free Loader works with Gamecube games thankfully :P

Yeah, man, I was so close to selling all my NTSC Cube games and re-purchasing PAL versions just to be able to play them on the Wii. Thank god I didn't! :)
